Dayz mod 1.8

I would like an answer to this too...

I have a private DayZ Control Center Server running 1.8.0.3 and would love to enable both the gender selection and spawn selection menus.

My init.sqf shows that spawn selection is enabled (spawnselection=1), but I have never seen either of these menus displayed.

What does one need to do in order to get these menus enabled and working?
You do know that if you run latest DayZ Controlcenter with DayZ 1.8.3 you can use both Genderselection and Spawn selection right? :p You can even have Custom loadouts together with those futures in latest CC :)

Hey thanks Squadron! Glad you chimed in here... ;). I appreciate the input, but after playing the newer version(s) -- 1.8.1 and beyond, I was somewhat disappointed. I'm not a big fan of the changes that were made, and would prefer using 1.8.0.3. Got any ideas as to why the spawn selection menu doesn't work for me?

And yes... It is enabled in the init.sqf (spawnselection=1).

Ah I see. Yeah spawnselection doesn't work well together with custom loadout (even if custom loadout is disabled), that's why I've made some customizations to the newer versions of CC to make it all work together. But that's for a different/newer DayZ version.

The problem's are in the HiveExt.dll and also some parts in the .sqf serverfiles.

spawn slection is in the hiveext.dll file which is used on public hive. try using epoch dll and see what happens
Yes like I said, but using a different HiveExt.dll will also create other problems. Some database functions in the HiveExt.dll won't match the database he is using for example.

My time is limited but I could try to get some time to throw together a working set of server files for DayZ 1.8.0.3 that U can use with the latest version of CC. That way you will have all the fixes that are not included in the current CC version you are using and you will also be able to use Spawnselection, Genderselection and Custom loadout all together without any problems or changes needed. :)

That would be awesome!!! I'm sure there would be others out there that would find that useful.

I have read about the HiveExt.dll work arounds, but from what I've read, it jacks up any custom load outs and can mess up other server functions as well. Many have resorted to using ESS or the Joop method, but I'd prefer to shy away from those...

Let me know if you are able to run 1.8.0.3 on the latest CC. That would be awesome!!!!

Thanks Squadron! I truly do appreciate your help on this... ;)

i was thinking that now dayz 1.8.3 uses the nearly the same database schema as epoch, it might slide right in. just suggested it as worth a try ...
i thought i have seen a few hiveext.dll running around that had different features like this anyways.

Hey Squadron!!!

For shits and giggles, I decided to start all over with a fresh install of everything (Arma2, OA, Beta Patch, DayZ 1.8.0.3, DayZ CC 5.9.4.1), and discovered a couple things...

1.) In the init.sqf, the default value for spawn selection is set to "0", which means disabled. So, I went ahead and changed that value to "1" and gave it a whirl. It still didn't give me the spawn selection menu or the gender selection menus... :(

2.) However, I also noted some errors in getting everything set and going, and was wondering if any of these errors had anything to do with it (spawn and gender selection) not working...

A.) When I load up DayZ Control Center, I noticed a couple of errors during the startup / initialization.

* Received invalid data
* Beta patch version does not
match recommended one.

B.) I also noticed an error message when it joined the server. I get the following message:

* Registration failed - couldn't
connect to server (couldn't
connect to host at
is.bistudio.com:8181).

Oddly however, I'm still allowed to continue and play.

C.) After playing for a short while, I decided to exit the game and check out the .RPT file. When I opened it up, everything looked OK, with the exception of these (3) lines.

* warning message: no challenge
value was received from the
master server.
* gamespy qr2 error: no challenge
value was received from the
master server.
* server error: player without
identity "ME" (id xxxxxxxxx)

So obviously I've got some issues... About a year ago I set up the exact same server and never had any of these errors. Did i install something incorrectly, and do you think any of these errors could be causing my problem(s)???

Please advise.

BTW, I'm still hoping that you're able to pipe 1.8.0.3 into the latest CC. Fingers are crossed... ;)

Thanks again for your help and your input... I truly do appreciate it. ;)

in your server.cfg remove the gamespy line and make sure you have the steamport lines . that should fix a few of those errors. a year ago gamespy was active .... no longer.

player without identity is normal when the server is just starting up. as long as its not,spammed and you cant log in.

i dont recall ever having spawn selection or gender selection work in dayz 1.8.0.3 or earlier .. could be wrong as usual,tho. as i said before, it was hinges on the public hive

Hi there ShootingBlanks!

I'm not sure what the steamport lines are that you speak of, but I did try removing the gamespy line, and saw no real change. I'm still getting the same errors. Thanks for the input, and thanks for trying to help. I do appreciate it. ;)

Yeah since you still use the old CC version 5.9.4.1 you will get some errors, that's why I encourage you to jump on the latest version of CC. It's configured for the new beta patch since they dropped gamespy. (5.9.4.1 is not)

The: " Received invalid data......" when launching CC you can ignore, that a ftp server problem. Will stop saying that when I fix it. :)

And as ShootingBlanks said, spawnselection and genderselection does not work in 1.8.0.3 at-least not without some fixes. I will add these fixes to the files when I set 1.8.0.3 up for the latest CC version.

So I encourage you to jump on CC 7.4.0.0 this version has allot more fixes and changes to it then 5.9.4.1, that version is outdated and doesn't work with the latest beta patches.

I will post in the CC section when done, so we don't fill up this section.
