    So I found the fix. In db>globals.xml: <var name="CleanupLifetimeLimit" type="0" value="50"/> The value=50 is the number to change. 50 in real time is 50 seconds. I changed it to 86400 and now we have a 24 hour despawn timer for dropped items. Case closed...
