Ok so you want to model yes?

A great way to start is to join an open world social sandbox program called Second life.

Second Life has the best in world editing and content creation system I have ever used/seen and it's a spectacularly easy way for a newbie to get into making content for Dayz (and mods) , arma 2 or 3

you can make some really incredible stuff in second life and then export it as a DAE. otherwise known as a collada file.

ONE IMPORTANT THING: ALWAYS TEXTURE EVERY SIDE OF YOUR PRIMATIVES otherwise you will have translucent solids in your models

then import that file into another free program , called Blender, then just export the imported file as an OBJ file

and then import the OBJ file into your editor Oxygen 2.5 or the Arma 3 Editor then just assign and apply your textures Reverse your faces and Tada! you have a created model textured and ready to be integrated into DayZ /Arma 2/Arma 3/Whatever just save the file as a P3D and your good to go!

Here is what you need :3

A Free second life Account: https://join.secondlife.com/

    Second Life Singularity Viewer: http://www.singularityviewer.org/downloads

Paint Dot Net: http://www.getpaint.net/ a free program comparable to paintshop pro or even photoshop!

Blender or another program capable or converting Collada DAE files to OBJ Files: Google it

Oxygen 2.5: https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/BI_Tools_2.5 or the Arma 3 Editor

Textures, there are plenty of free textures you can get your paws on and then modify if needed, just scour google image search or something similar

10 Dollars or equivalent: buy some (Lindens) second life's artificial currency, this currency is cheap and plentiful and will allow you to upload your textures / meshes to second life, exporting is always free!

NOTE: any content you wan't to export from second life ABSOLUTELY MUST be CREATED / uploaded by you, otherwise you will be unable to export some or even all of your created content! so keep that in mind and respect copyright!
