Players unable to access gear inside vehicles on vanilla dayz 1.8.0.3.

Im not sure exactly when this started happening, but Ive noticed that you can no longer access your gear inside a vehicle. Which means you also cannot eat or drink or bandage inside a vehicle. You used to be able to just press G and voila, gear. Where do I even start to look for this?
