Added new Bliss GitHub

Just got this today.... god damn.....
What the hack happened to ayan?

btw: is anyone up to continue the work or should i be forced to move over to another server software?

PS: If there is anything I can do to support this, just let me know.

I am hoping to continue the work on this.

You should really find out the reasons why before making such statements. Just to give you a heads up .5 will be out on the 1st and bliss will not be compatible.

No offense to you, but regardless of the reasons he did it, all of my statements ring true. Simply look at this forum post to see that fact.

As far as Bliss not being compatible? I have already run 1.7.5 on my Bliss Chernarus server without issue.

Did you have to make any dll changes or basically merge the new server stuff?

No DLL changes at all, I created the new 1.7.5 code and loaded my servers with it. I changed the version to 1.7.4.4 so that 1.7.4.4 clients could load it and the 1.7.5 client I was testing worked with it as well. I was able to run around, use my inventory manager to load up the survivor and even get the custom load outs when I died. I will be doing some more thorough testing on it over the next day or so.

That is good to know, means I can just merge the released official code with what I have in Bliss.

The dog is what might need a new dll, depending on how it gets added in and if it is saved, if it was finally added

I'm glad i have my own server code and schema now. (myself n killzone kid)
We orginally of course based it on bliss schema but we haven't used bliss code for about 3 updates now.
The problem is relying on other peoples code always creates issues somewhere along the line.

We already have all the changes and much better changes working on 1.7.4.4, except dogs as we haven't really looked into this part.

I would think there is enough community here to get around/build/take over the code though anyway, doubt there will be much problems.

I am going to have to agree with what you posted. Reasons aside, it would have been nice to be given a warning before it was taken down. Also thanks for keeping it alive.

Confirmed by R4Z0R49 that bliss in its current state wont work with 1.7.5 to its full extent.

R4Z0R49_: None of the medical system would work tho
R4Z0R49_: as the evenhandles are now server side

So we are riding a dead horse atm?

I think ayan was over worked with the amount of mods and maps out for dayz and the changes needed to make bliss work on those variants.

who knows where bliss will go.

But if 1.7.5 is released on the 1st as rumoured i can forsee a shitstorm as the vast majority of servers our their are hosted via bliss.

As for getting 1.7.5 to work with the current state of bliss you would need to manually update all of the event handlers.

Wich is quiet pain in the but i guess.

@thevisad: can u confirm these issues regarding your testing?

this is just sqf code updates and doesn't require database changes it seems for now, updating event handlers isn't exactly a pain it just needs to be tested.

Im going to port my test box at home to 1.7.5 tonight when i get home. I think ill load up 1.7.4.4 and run it though armadev eclipse and do a compare from there and do a patch fix.....

yet again another reason to say screw dayz and just go off and work on a public open hive system ... or mso.....

Right now, Bliss won't "build" a 1.7.5 branch at all. I have a version that I have converted over to 1.7.5 and as soon as I work out the bugs with the compile process it should start building it with all of the 1.7.5 changes.

My original tests were simply if I could compile all of the code manually and then upload/start the server off of that and run the client. It did connect out to the databases, but I did not do an intensive test to verify all functionality.

The changelog looks good. Good luck in getting it to run. I think I'll stay on 1.7.4.4 until 1.7.5 has been tested by you. On behalf of all of us too stupid to do the coding, thanks!

IMO Denigrating "ayan" for any reason whatsoever - shows a total lack of respect for all his time and efforts - plus the infrastructure created by him.
Others can take up an incomplete task - but it takes a more profound thinker/doer to start it in the first place.

Well Done "ayan" - hopefully you'll return soon and take up the reins again.

I've been an analyst/programmer nearly 40 years and I speak from experience.
Don't believe me -> http://www.auswad.com

I totally agree with you, but in my opinion he just could have given the project into other hands, instead of shocking thousands of people relying on him. His reaction was a bit .... hmmm childish? I dont know ..... No matter what, in the end, you are right.

I know it is hard to maintain such a project, specially if you do most of the stuff on your own, cause I doubt there was a team working on bliss (except of the few permanent contributors).

Hopefully he gets back.
