Even if DayZ SA completely dives I think the engine itself will become BIS' preferred non-milsim MMO engine. The "Life" (Island Life, Takistan Life, etc) people will go absolutely nuts over having the new features it has (most of which I don't think people quite understand the scope of yet).
There was never an implicit license for DayZ.
A couple of mods (Skarantor and Sahrani?) asked for and received explicit permission to use DayZ (older versions of it, at least), and received it with very few restrictions.
Most of the new mods (and versions of Skaranator and Sahrani that use...
If "land_mil_barracks" is one of the ones that doesn't open, it should be in there.
If it is the one with doors and a hallway, that'll be part of DayZ's loot tables (in dayz_code.pbo).
You can use Mikero's Dos Tools (DePbo) to open kh_taviana.pbo to get the tables you are after. The details are in CfgBuildingLoot in config.cpp.
kh_taviana.pbo uses config patching, so the tables are merged by ARMA with the Chernarus tables.
Yup, doing some kind of merge was my suggestion (so that servers owners could easily migrate; nothing will kill enthusiasm for a map faster than having to clean reset or do complex migration scripts) but they were already quite different at the outset.
A few things:
Hicks isn't blocking anyone from getting on to DayZ Commander. We actually put Tactical_Force in touch with Josh directly, and I discussed with Josh what new things were in Tact's mod and made it clear that Tact was using the public version of the Taviana map, and that we had no...
You can double check with the Sahrani team (they went looking for permission on them) but I'm fairly sure the majority of the civilian vehicles you have pictured (from P85 from what I can see) are owned or in some way encumbered by Gamers Platoon now.
The Alienz mod (the spaceships) are also...
While most people quickly find dayz_infectionTreshold to change the infection rates, it isn't particularly clear what the threshold means.
One complication is that the probability of being infected isn't based on a uniformly distributed random variable; instead, DayZ first generates a uniform...
This forum is fairly low volume and even a small number of advertisements would be likely to lower the signal to noise ratio enough to cause the usual viewers (who are mostly server owners, not players) to tune out.
If they are posted they will be removed.
Better places to post them are...
This discussion has been held elsewhere on OpenDayZ and really doesn't need repeating here. However, BIS makes it clear that they do (and expect others) to respect the rights of addon makers in some way; see for example their own forum rules:
I'd ask that threads in this forum apply the above.
The only Taviana map people should be using is available here:
http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?105530-Taviana-Island-for-ArmA-2!
(With the files being here: http://www.tunngle.net/community/topic/107701-dayz-taviana-new-dayz-map/)
You also can't modify anything within the .PBO...
They are two separate issues (and people). Which map you use has nothing to do with hicks_206 (who shouldn't be hard to get hold of either; private messaging him should send a copy to his e-mail even if he hasn't logged into the forum).
There is a single version of Taviana that can be...
There is only one public version around; the others would be taken out of Origins or DayZLand.EU (just before it become Origins). I think that's what the original poster is referring to with his references to ignoring legal threats.
I've had a look at the client files and spotted numerous addons that I'm fairly certain the original poster does not have permission to distribute in the manner that he is (including what I'm fairly sure is a version of Taviana that Martin does not permit redistribution of).
Unless someone can...
Actually it's owned by GamersPlatoon now, go have a look at the cease and desist letters.
Ersan (the owner of DayZ.ST) is on the record as saying they want royalties; DayZ.ST was in negotiations with them to host Origins for some time.
I've been told (by the owner of GamersPlatoon) that...
dennjoe,
Are you getting some kind of error?
If you just want some rough markers you could just open the 2D editor with Taviana (and nothing else; you can download Taviana without DayZ if you want a clean copy) drop some markers down and then copy the coordinates out from the mission.sqm you...
Yeap, you generally have to use the command line (or better yet, ARMA II Launcher), and the 2D editor.
Also, if your copy of @Taviana comes from DayZ Commander, it already has DayZ included and you may have issues using the utility missions. You can get around that by downloading the original...
