Anyone seen this? Looks like it's the guys behind dayzland's version of Taviana, the developer of the map himself and a few others. Sounds pretty different. Doubt ill play it though, don't trust these guys or agree with there ethics

Origins Key Features :

New and Enhanced Day/Night cycle: Smooth transition every 4 hours cycle for more dynamic and immersive gameplay.

Patient Zero: A unique mutated Super zombie capturing / killing this zombie might have the cure for the zombie infection.

Survivor made vehicles: Cars / helicopters / rafts / quad bikes and more

New Twist: Yotopia ( Salvation City ) the last human standing city where the society elites and the rich still live away from the infection. protected by high walls and the world top trained elite mercenaries.

Persistent Survivor levelling based on the newly introduced Humanity system. Players start with level 1 survivor with persistent levelling up , Players lose 1 level each time they die.

Every level enjoys new survivor/bandit outfit ( 24 in total )

Taviana 3.0 Map: DayZ Origins takes place on fully re-worked 600 Km2 Taviana Island 3.0 featuring over 60 new enterable building types, ( Hospitals, Train stations, Commercial districts, police stations, Ports, Military stations, Museums and much more, polished interiors and exteriors with highly detailed and carefully designed textures.

Good luck to them, I was thinking we might have some serious competition, but after seeing it earlier I am not to concerned now.

Seriously wouldn't surprise me if there's something of yours in it mate. I've never liked them and they have had no issues in the past using peoples codes and stuff without permision

The only thing i like the sound of is the heavily guarded city that's been built, reminds me of a kind of Bartertown from MM

That is a good idea, I give them that. Only thing is you can guarantee it will be a hot spot for teleporters.

I heard that the .com guys are locked out from using 3.0, so they finally got what they wanted after all the bitching on here. I have little respect at all now.

You heard right, Martin has decided to no longer release any Taviana updates publicly and keep it internal to the DayZLand.eu/GamersPlatoon/etc group.

We'll have to pull the 1.1/2.0 Taviana update from our upcoming changelog and look into the ethics of fixing the map level issues in our project db internally.

If they are non profit how do they afford to run $300 competition give aways?

I know Karwin is pissed off as they ripped some of the scenes from his 2017 trailer and put it into there own.

As for the game, the videos I have seen shown that the modeling is pretty bad and the AI mission triggers and actions seems to be lagging the servers down way to much, so players are starting to work out its no where near what it promised it will be.

Its giving me quiet laugh at how they have tried to copy the 2017 style vehicles. They are doing the same rusty look with items on the roof and also using the front plough mounted vehicles (no doubt take from our features thread). Copying is ok of course, I have no problem with that. But its almost like they are doing it to try and be popular then really thinking about the mods atmosphere and feel. They have rusty apocolypse vehicles along side players in suits and a pink SUV :confused:

Its a shame really, if they had been open and decent from the start we all could have worked together and helped them make a better mod. Now there is another shitstorm brewing as BI will no doubt look into this now and possibly say 'enough is enough' on modders using the DayZ name.

Also I feel like I can't be so open now with sharing about what we're working on, as its likely to get lifted.

Let me say that there are too many choices now. Too many mods on the mod, too many servers, too many to spread everything too thin.

The lag was atrocious. Terrible. At one point, I killed a player, bandaged my wounds, looted the body, and started to leave before spontaneously dieing to a gunshot from the firefight. Several other times in cqc I dodge behind someone, but while I was turning back to shoot, I watched them line up a shot 180* away from me and bam, dead. Once we were trying an ambush on the bridge and a player got out of his car, walked through our barricade, shot me with his pistol, got in a car on the other side without being visible. He almost got away before a magazine of Ak managed to register a hit. Even then my friend and I saw his body in two places 200m apart.

For those experiences alone I'm rethinking all the AI stuff I wanted to add to my server.

Its likely the city place thats causing issues. I heard they have some civilian models wandering around and combat ready AI, this combined with regular zombie spawns on a map the size of tavianna, well its no wonder they are running into issues.

I just looked around, I can't see any server files for this. Are people able to host servers for it? If not, why the hell is it on Dayz Commander o_O

I think 1.5 has basically turned into this. The big issue for me is the amount of exposure this is getting, eurogamer has just done an article on origins.
It makes me quite angry that a few pictures get to eurogamer, they think oo this looks good, do an article and the mod gets loads of players and attention. Totally oblivious to the fact the people involved have ripped people off, stole code without permission, not given credit where it is due. Locked down specific files, for no other reason to boost there server rankings.

There is more coming out each day too. There was a post on reddit yesterday where the CEO (Yes, they have an actual CEO), told somone to cease using the server files they had set up (someone called 'rape dungeon' had worked out how to set a server up). This is annoying as this is exactly what they did last time. It was not until someone else released the files that sudddenly Alex turned up here looking for allies. I think as we're about openesss he saw that as means to associate himself away from the closed approach they had up until then. Too many people fell for that hook, line and sink too.

The other thing was Rocket came out and said the mod 'had awesome ideas' which the press turned around too 'Rocket says Origins mods is awesome'.

However the thing is every post I have seen on people summarising there thoughts on the mod have been really bad, so its not likely to last. Lets face it if they did not have Tavianna as there map it would have sunk even quicker.

Still its been a shitty week, makes me really feel like moving on from DayZ. I won't do that as we have another release lined up, but crap like this combined with trolls slagging off your work all the time kind of makes you question why your're doing it.

So essentially Dayz Commander and Martin are currently supporting a mod that is not open to the public, run for profit and steals other peoples code. Sweet :S

It's really unfortunate that this has befallen Taviana, which is a really amazing map. Had Alex worked with hicks and kept his code open, Mr Shrenai would still be working on it, we'd have one super version of Tavi isn't of 3 average ones and his site would most likely be a lot more popular. This kind of crap always ends up biting people in the ass.

Does dotjosh know that they have zero intention of releasing the files? Surely he wouldn't put this kind of crap on Dayz Commander after what happened with Panthera.

I really hope rocket and co step up and do something here. I am kind really questioning if I should be entertaining the player base with new content until SA comes out and doing this all for free,, when others are out to make a buck.

I have not spoke to Josh about this yest, but this really has got me questioning to much. I feel like just sticking around here now and ignoring the rest of the so called community (I don't mean R4Z0R49 and co who are a good bunch).

I gave them to ersan at DayZ.ST and the following day alex then came out public that he would release them to everyone else.

The only reason i did what i did, was because of how they were controlling the server files, and i didnt agree with it. Then low and behold they are doing it YET again..

Can't say I blame you. Like I say I will get out the next release of 2017 as there is some pretty special stuff in it, but after that I will have chat with the guys on the team (who are a great bunch) and see what they want to do.

Would be a real shame for it to effect 2017 mate, i know the hard work you and your team have put into it. But in all honesty, if stuff like this keeps happening, how long until they rip off your models or something and get it on commander with there mod, it's all getting to far

Looks like DotJosh dosnt take on his own advice either, this is why i have finished with DayZMod, as it's all been taken over with money

Okay, so here is the question.

I've received numerous requests to support Taviana by DayzLand in DayZCommander. Recently,I've been waiting for the server files to get released before I added it. I did this because the last time I released mods that didn't have server files available to everyone, there was quite an uprising by the community.

Sooner Arma 3 comes along the better. I much prefer the community there, much more mature players and contributers.

I would like to do something on A3 and I think after next release I will put the tools down for a while. I don't feel like getting into modding SA at all.

But on A3 I would really like to do something non DayZ / Zed based, but certainly survival / post apoc based. The more I have got into doing this the less I realise how Zombies are not the important part.

You know what mate, i cant agree with you more. Dont get me wrong, ill love standalone, in know it. But to be honest, zombies dont really do much for me. The player has always been the main antagonist. I know i have referenced them before, but look at Mad Max / Book of Eli type films. A lot of enphesis on bandits and VERY limited supplies, but also the feel of being alone. Which is never the case in DayZ! Personally, i'd prefer not having zombies and only worrying about the living. Meaning you will have a lot less encounters where you need to use a weapon, but when you do, there more tence
