How many still play or are still a fan of the Epidemic mod?

After working on the Epidemic mod, I do still receive the updates from posts in this forum. I'm always surprised when there's a new message asking for the files or members continuing the life of DayZ Epidemic.

What I would like to know is if there are many people still playing Epidemic and how many roughly? :)

My favorite mod although I must admit I haven't ran a server for Epi in about 5 months. I'd like run it on Chernarus and rebuild it for Arma 3.

I considered doing it for Arma 3, I was playing about with an Arma 3 server some time ago and the models are much better for creating certain areas. I wouldn't just want to recreate it though, I would want to possibly continue the storyline. As there was a background to Epidemic.

I have got a few ideas but obviously it depends on how many people are still a fan or enjoyed the Epidemic mod. Right now zombie survival games/mods seem to be dying down in popularity so I would want to incorporate a new style. For example, the "Epoch" mod is obviously very well made and is a good mod BUT in my opinion it's sticking to it's own style and the Arma 3 maps right now are terrible for zombie survival.

So it's either create a new design based around the current maps (Which I've been thinking about) or find/build a new map for Epidemic. I would agree with Chernarus but I feel it's outdated now and not really big enough for an Arma 3 mod.

I'll keep working on some ideas, in 2 weeks I can get a server to mess around with. I was just curious if there are still people interested, if it goes ahead, that would want to try it out.

I know @ShootingBlanks is really good with the ArmA code. He'd be the first person I'd attempt to recruit.

Altis would host Epidemic really well although that map may be played out already too.

I'd be interested in being part of the dev team to continue the story of Epidemic.

i can aid when needed.. but i have restarted my unity3d project from last year .. and am,making good, progress at the moment so dont want to get too far, off, track.

Thanks guys :D that's fine. Most of the initial stuff I should be ok with but if I get stuck I'll definitely give you a shout.
I'm going to take a look through some bits and see what I can cook up.

Epidemic was one of my favourite mods back in the day. Be good to see it re-surface :)

+1 for beta testing if you require.
What I'll probably do, once I got the files made up I'll get a server up and running for a bit and update it as I go. The server will be open for people to join.

I'll probably get the server up in a few weeks, depending on how long it takes me to create a back story :3

It's going to be tough deciding what to be the main focus. Since "zombie survival" isn't too popular anymore and the more enjoyable parts of Epidemic were the fact that NPCs were the biggest danger but at the same time to continue Epidemic it will incorporate zombies.

Id love to see Epidemic come back to Arma 2 {pfft to even bothering ruining by trying to release a Arma 3 version, look what happened to Epoch when it transitioned from one to the other, changed so much from what it was it was a completely different beast, a shite one for it too}.... Anyways ... Yeah

BRING EPIDEMIC BACK TO LIFE! It had bundles of potential, no doubt its still does have it!!! x

for arma3? you are forbidden from using any dayz files,in arma3 because it would compete with the dayz standalone
Owen was going to rework it for Arma 3. No dayz code and no dayz assets involved. I emailed him about 4 weeks back in regards to building it on the Bornholm map but haven't heard back from him.

that wouldn't be epidemic then would it
it would be some kind of new mod for ArmA 3
what was so special about epidemic anyways? The original files have pretty much disappeared so I can't really have a first hand opinion but it looked to me like it was a precursor to overwatch and nothing terribly different except for the map.

It had weapons attachments before anyone else, and it had Sanctuary AI city

Never heard of or played Epidemic tbh
Most Arma 2 mods are getting rebooted for Arma 3, with some tweaks to skirt the red tape of course. Good luck.

I mean I dont know about anyone else, but I am certainly not going to work on a mod just to have it shut down by BIS. The solution is a new A3 mod that would be used as the base instead of Dayz. Most of the code Dayz used was not original and could be incorporated into a new mod.

I would buy Arma 3 if this mod was added. It seems like they are only concerned with competition with the standalone. So I dont think they would say much, as long as its not a complete copy.
