Reconsidering available weapons

In this topic I would like to list weapons that are already in the game that should either be banned or available.

If you do not agree with one or more reasons to ban a gun, please discuss in the comments.

A first category of bans would be anti-materiel rifles. This category consists of:

Do people agree with this approach of making more weapons available for DayZ Sahrani?
 
Personally, I think getting a hold of those that have made custom weapon packs, such as the RH one used on Celle, the models and sounds are good, the gun variety is nice, lots of pistols and SMGs and would replace the flavorless default list of weapons used in the game.

My aim with redoing the weapon bans is to introduce more content, using data that is already present and does not require to be added on. Furthermore, I am sure a lot of DayZ players have never used the newly introduced weapons and therefore I think that this would be a great change.

That said, I wholeheartedly agree with you on adding custom weapon packs.
 
Overall your list makes sense, it's pretty good!

One thing I really got into doing for Celle was blocking almost all the default DayZ weps in the Anti hack. This way its like 10 times easier to auto strip people of hacked in gear (cuz its usually default dayz shit).

If servers run a night cycle it would be nice if there was at least one or two very rare loot NV guns allowed,ok maybe not the sniper rifles but i don't see it a problem if both the Ak74 and FN fal NV guns where possible spawns in game, again it is down to choices for the server admins to make and there player base and to not have one person or a groups choice enforced on them because they think it is how the game should be played. If you ban all NV guns then i really don't see any servers wanting to play at night, I have our celle server with a full day/night cycle only because i make NVG's easily accessible and we have street lights and house lights on too. Now i don't know if Sahrani is going to have the electrical grid working as it has been talked about but if not then i can't see anyone wanting to have a night cycle in there servers if those guns and no lighting are in game.
Choices are a must for server admins and if we are not given some choices that don't actually affect how the map plays it imo will hinder the maps success if choices are taken away from us before we even start.

Back to weapons, I love the RH weapon pack that is in Celle and think those guns would be a great addition to any server if at all possible.:D
 
Well, weps don't necessarily have to be banned out, they can simply be left off the loot table so admins can edit them in if desired. Also, street/house lights are great, but so are full moons, they help a shitload making it pretty unnecessary for NVGs imo.

One thing I'd like to see is perhaps a very rapid day/night cycle built into the map, something like 3 or 4 days in a 24h period.. So players from multiple regions of the world can experience both.
 
Actually I would be fine with just not banning anything (after reading the replies in the other threads) so that server owners can adjust loot tables with what they want.
That said, I would like to see the weapons listed above to appear the in the loot tables for some more diversity :).

About the nights, I actually agree with Manatee. In my experience the nights are playable and adding NVG or NV scopes to that would throw off the balance. Without them everyone is impaired in an even fashion.

Most players will not even entertain the thought of playing on a night cycle server without the possibility of NVG's, though personally i think there is enough light as long as full moon nights work correctly and server admins have access to make it so and along side the streetlights/houselights it does make the night time experience more fun. But still from speaking to a lot of our player base over the last few months if i ever suggested a night cycle on some of our servers the large percentage always say as long as you give us NVG.o_O

I think it would be best to just not ban anything and give the server admins the possibility of adding in items with the loot tables that way each server can be different and give a different playing experience for it's players. Not everyone always wants balance,some servers still have As50's/M107's in and others do not (like ours) but the most important thing we all have is the choice to decide.
 
There is only one thing I would like to add: I still think it is the responsibility of the mod makers to ensure that not every fire station and every barn is littered with AS50's and rocket launchers.
 
My playerbase is the opposite, they hate NVGs, they love night time play with all the diff lighting options, for some reason they like it more than day ;)

I really do hope they add as many gun packs as they can get a hold of into this even if they don't make it into the loot table... Because the arma sniper rifles are really bleh, looking for more low end types cz550/m24 style, same for the shotguns/smgs available... kinda limited.

I personally don't like using NVG when we have great lighting options in the town areas but sometimes in Celle if the full moon nights don't work as planned or at certain times of night it is pitch black in the wooded areas and unplayable without NVG's.

The only guns i would always insist on banning would be the .50 cal's to try and enforce some kind of skill factor when shooting at a player for a kill.

I really do like the RH packs of guns but other than that i have not really looked into what is available but the RH gun packs cover pretty much everything i would like to use in game.
 
My players have fallen in love with the RH weps, but I have an extreme distaste for anything with Thermal sights/ scores, outside of NVGs.

I struggle to modify the loot tables (never successfully made a change that worked) so having AS50s, M107s, and Thermal sights in the loot tables would force our community not to use this map.

Celle loot tables are the best of any map. I'd prefer to see similar weapons.
 
Exactly, Celle has a great set of custom weapons, I love it. Do note - You can add the masterkey pellets/slugs to the loot piles since Graz forgot to do that.

Had not previously noticed this thread somehow. I will go over it in more detail in the next week, but our weapon changes are locked in for this release, there will be changes on the next version, but for now it's set in stone...

ALL the changes are in the bans, and loot tables, so if it's unbanned it will spawn and so will it's ammo. In the future we are going to re-work the loot tables a bit more to help reduce the military loot in non-military areas.
