Adding Vehicles to a Vanilla Official Hive DayZ Server

I was wondering how servers like us659 and others add vehicles to their servers?
I have tossed around the idea of adding a couple more helis as well as many more land vehicles. I would love to just make it a little bit easier for a couple people to travel at the same time, spice up the gameplay. How would I do this? Through the database or through init.sqf? I dont know how to go about this and its driving me nuts. I cannot even connect to my database either and nothing I do in hive.ext or server.cfg seems to matter at all.
 
I'm pretty sure modding your server if it's a official hive server will get your server blacklisted from the hive.

If you want to play with stuff like that you need to be running a private hive.
