A great way to start is to join an open world social sandbox program called Second life.
Second Life has the best in world editing and content creation system I have ever used/seen and it's a spectacularly easy way for a newbie to get into making content for Dayz...
feel free to convert in oxygen 2.5 and put in dayz and or its mods or whatever. just want you all to use and enjoy them : )
