Please tell us what weapons you'd like to see added to DayZ! This is for BRAND NEW guns, not Un-banning existing Arma 2 guns...

Our focus is civilian guns since Arma has the military pretty well covered, however all suggestions welcomed.

Links to pictures or existing models appreciated but not required.

:D No worries, Definately would like to see a Desert Eagle added and a few more pistols since they always get over looked, Will need to do more research to find some ideas:p
 
Not sure if this is allowed because I just made my account but I figured I'd leave a link to a discussion about this on reddit for you to look over, there are a lot of good ideas there I think.

Personally, I would really just absolutely love an actual viable compound bow/crossbow weapon. Right now the crossbow is just so weird to use and in my experience I never actually hit what I'm aiming at. I believe this has been discussed before and mentioned that it would take a significant amount of work on the engine to improve it but I think it would be worth the time and effort to provide some diversity to the available weapons.

My suggestions are:

Ruger 10/22 as you suggest - a pretty ideal anti-zombie gun. Since it is using a .22LR round then some variants with effective suppressors would be great

Semi-auto only versions of military weapons - ok, not a big modelling request - but it would be nice if you found some AR-15, AK or SCAR type weapons that accepted standard magazines but were locked to semi-auto. Perhaps a rare spawn in residential buildings.

SR-47 - An AR-15 type rifle, but designed to accept standard AK47/AKM 7.62x39mm. This was designed for special forces on long missions -so they didn't have to rely on a ressuply of NATO ammunition and could instead us captured ammunition. http://www.liveinternet.ru/tags/SR-47/

L1A1 SLR - British version of the FN Fal. Main modifications are that it is locked to only fire semi-auto and is coloured black. It also accepts the L2A1 "Suit" 4x magnification scope. http://world.guns.ru/assault/be/fn-fal-e.html (3rd image down)

Smith and Wesson M&P15-22 - An AR-15 type semi-auto only weapon which fires .22LR. Pump action shotgun with massive suppressor

KRISS Super V - a Submachine gun that fired .45 acp but uses an innovative recoil system to greatly reduce barrel rise during full-auto/burst firing. http://world.guns.ru/smg/usa/kriss-super-v-e.html

SKS - VERY popular russian designed semi-auto rifle that is known to be very reliable and due to its popularity in the USA - many add-ons are widely available for it. Since the standard magazine is just 10 rounds - but each shot is as powerful (and loud) as an AKM one, then I think it would make for a good low-tier military weapon.

RH wep pack has a lot of things to work with. Ideally the pistols and SMGs from it would be great - their damage keeps the game civi like rather than the insanity that some assault rifles and sniper rifles cause.

Agreed! The only thing that ruins this aspect of gameplay in Celle is the fact that the newly added M4's spawn in large numbers too. The civilian parts of the map have much better gameplay if they aren't crowded with 5.56 and 7.62 weapons.

Pretty much why I have gone through the effort of redoing the entire loot table and the loot piles... Graz forgot to add the masterkey slugs/pellets to the loot table.

Also, what I like is the wide variety of RH pistols and SMGs, not only do they look/fire differently, they also use different ammo types - which to me further puts a burden on the player to make choices on what gun to keep - Especially if you tweak R3F realism properly so that carrying a million things isn't possible.

And yeh, I removed all 7.62s, and there's only a few 5.56 weps left (m203 and Masterkey variants). I made 5.56 rounds basically only come with the gun, and in 20 round mags, with small chance of 30 round and a very tiny chance of a 100round mag - Basically this being ultra rare and makes up for the entire removal of all machine guns.

Also in the case of m203 weps, they have a chance to spawn with HE/flares/smokes in place of ammo. Same goes for the masterkey.

The only sniper rifles I left in the game are the M40/m24/m24des/cz550 - Personally, if Ihad more choice, i'd want more variety between cz550s and m24s... And we've got a custom crafting script we've put in so that you upgrade the m24 into a des or m40 based on materials like ghillie and the desert ghillie (available on celle).

I think the game with more options for server owners the better is what I'm getting at. I mean, I think Celle is a boring empty map with nothing to offer until Graz came along and pumped it full of things that I took and customized to my liking.
 
And my opinion is that this dogma regarding power balance, assuming that the development team agrees with it, should be put in place as the default (in Sahrani in this case).
You, Manatee, might be a prolific server owner with lots of initiative, but for you there are 30 server owners who rent a server and leave it in vanilla state. And I think that if it is agreed upon by all here, that civilian areas should not be crowded with assault rifles, that we should cater to the majority of the server owners by making it so.

I think I've said it before and I'll say it again, all the changes you have made to Celle are great and I love playing on your server.
 
It's a damn shame Dayz.ST and vilayer both shat the bed with my servers, right now hoping the whole thing with GOB goes well! While i'm at it - anyone know any good providers that won't break the bank?

I wish I had the skills and the supporting manpower necessary to create my own version of what I think DayZ could/should be - but unfortunately that's not the case.

Well I hate to dash your hopes, but there is literally NO chance of us being the ones with the limited weapon list by default.

Server owners/managers are free to implement whatever changes they or their players want, but we are leaning way more on the side of opening up choices than blocking them.

Even when we "improve" a mechanic and make it more tasking or realistic, there will likely be an option to disable that feature easily.

An Example would be our plan to make the MTVR Repair only allow a player to perform each required repair, or maybe even simply spawn with a certain number of parts... however our plan is to ADD the MTVR repair, not keep it on the ban list. Some servers will run it as pull up and instant heal the entire vehicle, others will use it with the added mechanic, and others will re-ban the vehicle or not spawn any...

Freedom and choice will be the core design, we do not believe in hindering play styles due to our own or others personal preferences or distastes.

In the current test version we've removed several weapons from the ban list, and have never added any that are not banned in default DayZ to it.
 
I really like the fact you guys are giving server owners the freedom to do as they choose by unlocking more of the game to them - any thoughts of giving them even more freedom by throwing in tons of vehicles/wep packs/skins into the game DL so even if they don't spawn in the game, owners that take initiative on themselves can add them to the loot table or vehicle spawn list w/o any client side extra DLs? Or would that result in some sort of conflict of sorts (for whatever reason it may be).

As for the "default" - who cares what that is - I play a map for the freedom I have to work with it and make it to my liking, not because the default is some sort of be all end all... Those are actually the ones that I avoid.
