Please remember never to land helicopters on wooden ceilings. Just metal floors.

Some epoch ground rules: (will be adding more soon)
1. First and foremost, ABSOLUTELY NO RACISM or any form of harassment based on race, ethnic group, religion, or gender. We have zero tolerance for racism or harassment in our server. No racist terms (it doesn't matter if you're black, the N word is still a racist term). Here's a tip - if you have to argue about whether or not what you said is racist, it probably is and will be treated as breaking this rule. Also, arguing with the admins about whether or not it's racist or offensive is a great way to be kicked/banned. We're trying to play video games, not have an ethics discussion. Admin discretion is final.

2. No voice chat over the "Side chat" channel is allowed. Accidents happen, so you won't get banned for occasional accidents, but repeated voice over side will earn a kick. Mic spamming, music spamming, or arguing about the "no voice over side chat" rule over side chat will result in a kick, followed by a ban for a repeat occurrence. Typing is allowed and encouraged, but rule 1 applies and repeated spamming of side chat text is against the rules.

3. No stealing of ANY KIND in the safe zones (Bashnya and Klen). No opening other people's backpacks without consent. No stealing of vehicles or items. Do not sell vechiles you do not own. DO NOT GET INTO VEHICLES YOU DO NOT OWN. This is considered an attempt to steal the vehicle and may result in you being slayed by an admin. Repeated occurrences will result in a kick or ban. Do not troll people by opening their backpacks repeatedly. Do not open the gear menu on vehicles you do not own. Because the safe zone is PvP free, there is no way for players to defend their items from thieves. Also, to encourage playing Epoch and interacting with the traders, the safe zones are a NO STEALING zone. If someone thinks you are stealing or if you are acting shifty, you are probably in violation of this rule.

4. No building bases which block off "high-value" loot areas. This is designed to prevent players from blocking off rare, high-value loot areas to loot in security and prevent others from looting. As a general rule, blocking off ANY military loot spawn is NOT ALLOWED and your base items are subject to being deleted without a refund. As always, admin discretion governs what is considered excessive. One or two players attempting to block off an excessively large number of smaller buildings may also be prohibited.
The following areas are explicitly forbidden:

  • Anywhere inside the cities of Cherno and Elektro
  • Any military loot spawn.
  • Three-story industrial buildings AND construction sites
  • General stores
  • Churches

The following areas are "borderline" but allowed (this should be considered the biggest thing you can get away with building in):

  • Silver metal hangars (the ones that spawn industrial loot)
  • Long brown barns
  • Two story barns

Be aware that building inside a natural building comes with its own set of risks. The walls of long brown barns are very thin and are easy to get into, even if the doors are walled off. If you use natural structures, it's more or less "at your own risk" regarding people getting inside them through the natural walls. If you put constructed walls around the entire interior to prevent access, then you should be protected against entry.


4. No GLITCHING into bases. Glitching, in this context, means using any method that is NOT an intended game mechanic (walking, crawling, or vaulting through an open passage, or opening a door) to access a blocked-off area. This rule has several gray areas, so some examples are provided to clarify. These examples are NOT exhaustive. As always, admin discretion is final regarding this rule. Issues should be posted on the forums. Glitching (or attempting to glitch in) is a very serious offense and will likely be met with swift kicks or temp bans. A second incident will likely result in a permanent ban. If you accidentally glitch into a base, please report it to an admin (especially if you can't get out) immediately and don't steal anything. If you accidentally glitch in and steal, it will be treated the same as an intentional glitch.
These items are considered glitches:

  • Exiting a vehicle next to a wall to put you on the other side of it
  • Clipping through the world floor
  • Running against a wall repeatedly and having desync "port" you through the wall



These items are NOT considered glitches and are valid methods of entering bases:

  • Trying every combination on the lock
  • Vaulting over a low wall
  • Running up natural terrain (rocks, hills, etc) EVEN if that terrain doesn't "look like" it should be able to be walked on (builders are obligated to make sure their base is secure from the surrounding terrain)
  • Crawling through an open space (as long as you don't have to "port" or rubber band to get through)
  • Waiting outside and killing someone once they unlock the door

5. No large explosive assaults on bases. This is intended to prevent a single player from leveling an entire base when no one else is on (and to prevent unfair destruction of an entire stash in seconds).

  • Satchel charges are explicitly prohibited from being used against bases (using them against buildings in towns and against cars on the road and out in the world is OK).
  • Deliberately crashing or attempting to crash airplanes or helicopters into bases in order to cause a massive explosion is prohibited.
  • Throwing grenades (or using an underbarrel grenade launcher) is permitted, but excessive trolling with grenades may be considered a special case (admin discretion rules here). Again, the idea is to prevent one person from just going out and blowing up an entire base.
  • Using the Humvee with the mounted grenade launcher against a base is allowed.
 
We are still here! Nightly hitting 50/50, server is very active, stable, and we continue along! This thread is no longer up to date in terms of all the mods (some are a part of epoch by default now for example, others have been added) but overall everything here is still relevant.
