How to update server and keep current status of server

Hello guys, im thinking about updating my server i may wait until i see how 1.7 4 4 turns out.
I was just wondering how to carry over my players characters and vehicles, do i juat copy mySQL folder over woth the new files or do i have to do a clean wipe.. Thx for your input
 
All you need to do is update the new proc files. This will just overwrite the object_classes and the object_spawns file. Just to be save backup your current MySQL database then apply the changes.
