Development of DZAI for 2014

Development of DZAI will generally slow down for 2014 as my time becomes increasingly more limited. I am much more busy lately than I have for the past few months, to the point where I only have 1 hour (or less) of personal time to spend each day. This makes planning, developing, and testing new features close to impossible.

However, I will be continuing to support DZAI by providing improvements to existing features and continuing to fix bugs before DZAI reaches version 2.0. This does mean that shiny new features will have to wait indefinitely, and this isn't something I'm thrilled about either. I will also be providing support by posting guides to answer frequently asked questions and tutorials on how to set up various things. These info guides will be available on the Support and Release section of the DZAI forums.

What this means for you as the user is that you can rest assured that DZAI will continue to function as it is now to the foreseeable future.

Yeah definitely reach out if there is anything we can do to help. Thanks for your time as always.

The best kind of help would be to report any unusual behavior from DZAI. Since the majority of you are running servers with actual players (unlike me testing by myself), you have a better chance of encountering various bugs that I have missed. If at possible, keep an eye out for any DZAI-related errors in your RPT log, or any unusual debug information if you have debug modes enabled. Most bugs won't necessarily show up as an error, but the reported information may be different from what is expected. If null or "any" (undefined) values start appearing out of nowhere, you know that something has likely gone wrong.

Personally, I find it very useful to use the "Find All in Current Document" function in Notepad++ and search for log output only from DZAI. For example, by using this method of searching I tracked down the mistake I made in the dynamic spawn % probability formula that caused a 100% probability of spawn every ~10 minutes.

I wanted to give you a huge thanks for the work you have done on this AI package. We are having a blast with it and it can be quite challenging at times unlike other AI I have tried.

as soon as I get unlazy I plan to give DZAI a shot as Im running a really old version of SARGE. I feel DZAI will be much less stressful on my server and Ive been impressed by them on the servers I've played with them. Any kind of support will be more than we are getting with SARGE (Im pretty sure SARGE support is long dead). Thanks for the hard work!

@wriley: Judging by your avatar, you're Kerbo on Youtube? If so, I've watched several of your DayZ videos with DZAI. It's pretty fun watching the AI in action. :)

@DangerRuss : Thanks for giving DZAI a try. Hopefully the transition will go alright for you. There are some differences between DZAI and Sarge AI that may take some getting used to.

Yea Ive played with them extensively on other servers. My biggest hold up is transitioning AI missions to work with them and I have some friendly AI bases guarded by static AI and such that I'll have to figure out what to do with and how I want to change it.

I recently switched to DZAI from SARGE. 1st thing I noticed is that the AI are more life like, less glitchy and seem to be more intelligent. I like the backpacks on the AI as well, nice touch. I will continue to test and report back if any issues are noticed.

A few things I've noticed in the DZAI system so far; Radio messages don't show AI kills. This is a nice option that Sarge had going. I do have the options for radio enabled, just doesn't seem supported in the script. The find killer option is cool, but it needs tweaking as it will just pick random players that aren't attacking AI. This option should only be activated if they are engaging with AI. I also seem to get a lot of object spam in my RPT I know it says to keep enabled otherwise can cause crash issues. But it seems to be a lot and I'm affraid it's going to cause major desync lag issues.

I had this for a few hours last night. It has now gone away.

This post is to notify users of the possibility of an upcoming update (2.1) for DZAI. This will be a massive update (from my view anyways) but because I'm just as busy as I was before, I have no ETA. Many things have been added or changed, and even more things need to be checked and fixed.

Again, at this time there is no ETA and it is still unknown whether or not an actual release can be made. This is just a heads up of what could come. Please don't have high expectations as it's very 50/50 of a release or nothing at all.

Thanks.
