Is there any way to put the map and new vehicles in the 1.7.8.5 version 1.7.1 server open Dayz Origins to display our map Novistrana Taviana of 1.7.1?

Why is forbidden? All Dayz code is not open? if it's a free mod, do not understand why

It's because the developers of Origins think they are hot shit and that they are God's gift to the gaming world. It's an arrogance thing. If they had any sense, they'd get a different game engine, recode it with developers from Obsidian Entertainment, Zenimax Studios, etc., and then have the game published by a real publisher like Bethesda, for example. Basically, they could create their own independent game out of it, but unfortunately they are not that smart. Origins has so much potential, but unfortunately by the time they release version 2.0, it will be 2060 and the gaming industry won't give a fuck by then.

It basically irritate me because this is an open source game, all the tools provided by Bohemia (for free), and then we have selfish fucks who are have their heads so far up their own asses that they can see they light of day through their nostrils.

They've taken basically freeware, and want to make money off of it instead of just doing something great for the greater good of the community.

That's a bit heavy handed IMO. Truth is DayZ Mod, was created with the same tools, and WAY WAY less original content in terms of terrain and models than Origins is. Chernarus, and all the units, vehicles, and weapons in DayZ are from BI, a few weapons were custom for DayZ, and exactly what did DayZ do? They sold their "IP" that was all created in the same engine, and sold it to the owners of the engine, and made a standalone game with tons and tons of code from the mod. So clearly both BI and Dean Hall think you should be allowed to profit off of mods you make in A2.

The work it takes to make a terrain is crazy, much less to make the biggest most detailed one available, is a pretty legit thing to want to not share.

What I think DayZ modders might not get quite as much is that LOTS of mods, terrains, and assets are NOT up for use in any other mod besides their author's.

The recent DayZ Share Alike license doesn't and can't apply to Origins assets such as terrains, and models, but it can in regards to code. The licensor needs to notify them and they have 30 days to rectify the breach and use of DayZ Code, or they have to stop distributing it until such a time that has happened.

But from what little I've heard about/seen BI/Dean Hall don't seem to be doing that to anyone... even some mods that have used DayZ Standalone content and DayZ Mod models/content in Arma 3 which is also barred by the license...

So who knows?

But if Martin/Vilas/Alex all want their work to be left alone, then IMO that should be respected.

It's being discussed on the BI forums right now, Vilas didn't seem to happy about the assertion that it should be shared:

Indeed. I was rather harsh. I understand what you're saying though. It's just a nasty business when the ethical bounds and morals values of doing the right thing are ignored because someone wants to turn a profit. It's an ugly world we live in, but at the same time, I'm no better than them as if I was in their position, I might do the same thing. I didn't mean to come off as self righteous. I just want to believe in the greater good for humanity and certain things just rub me the wrong way. The whole Origins thing being one. But no worries. It's not going to have any impact on my life. Guess I was just venting at the time.

I totally agree with you.
As Bender would say, "We'll make our own Origins, with casinos and prostitutes, forget passing of the original Origins!"

Hopefully when standalone comes to be what everyone plays .. server admins are not held hostage by a third party like dayz commander. I have had a taviana 1.8.0.3 done for 2 months but have been waiting for this one as its useless if players cant download the mod easily and rhis seems to be the best chance.
The frustration is palpable. Its unfortunate that dayz commander has been such a hinderance to so many promising mods ... let alone simple updates if mods to the current dayz code.
What needs to be done .. if the standalone has similiar issues .. is an ala carte download system. I make a mod that uses map X with pbo addons Y and Z using code base 1.8.0.3 and players can checkmark what the server requires and the distributor software packages them all together for download. Then using a launcher the player can say start with the mod package I just downloaded.

An example here. Check 1.8.0.3 to use current dayz. Check taviana to include the map . Check SOW sounds. Gyrocopters ... and thise files are packed into mod1234 and installed on users computer. User then starts with- mod=mod1234 via integrates launcher. All customizations to the server would have to be in server.pbo and mission file.
But alas ... dayz mod is coming to an end in favor for standalone but keep this idea in mind in case its needed for standalone.

I don't think you need a Taviana 1.8.0.3 updated mod to be on DayZ Commander to be successful. The map has so many players that love it. Some of the successful server operators could put up a server with download instructions\link on their website and I have doubt that would be enough.

Name it whatever and put it out there. We'd put up a server and advertise it in several places.

Screw DZC!
