This would be really cool, but unfortunately, not possible.Just thought of this:
Unban Radios as a tool
Radios allow you to use side chat on servers with side chat disabled
Radios need batteries to work, batteries can be found in pretty much everywhere except hospital/medical loot, but as a higher chance in Supermarkets (Batteries are decently rare, maybe 0.5% spawn rate)
Batteries have 10 charges, every message to side chat uses 1 charge.
Maybe even have to repair the radio first, like new antenna/wiring.
If you're able to do it for guns, and you can do everything else stated above, then def make them have to be repaired before use. Would make some pretty interesting game-play decisions.
"Do I call for help and risk death cause everyone can hear me?" etc.
Probably impossible, but it's a fun idea none the less.

If side chat is turned off, it'll stay off. We can't change it unforunately.

I mostly just want to not have server wide communication as something everyone can do all the time, because spam wars between bandits occur on my server, and we only have maybe 15 concurrent at peak at the moment.
I still want server wide chat to work, for important things, that people have to think about before they say.
I can't just go about reprimanding people for talking when we only have that many people.
In DayZ it kinda works like direct chat from what I've seenI know I can set it, but yeah, sucks that there's absolutely no way for it to work.
On a somewhat related note, what exactly can you do with group chat in DayZ? I've seen people use it in the past, but specifics i'm lost on. Pretty sure all I can do with it is talk to myself.
Why rocket doesn't want to do that is because it's one of the only necessary friendly player interaction stuff there is. From my standpoint, I don't think it should be changed.Just an idea,if animals are gonna become more rare and mainly rabbits then it may serve well to allow lone wolves to use blood bags themselves??This is being suggested for SA but its not taking well as people feel that slaughtering 2 cows and spamming steaks is more realistic then a player giving themselves an IV injection of blood.No one seems to understand that the survival feel goes away when there is food everywhere though and a fix for this is to.....ehhhh NM!
Just make them rare like weapons so player has something they are constantly on look out for.You can save them then for those life saving moments.Shinkicker,any thoughts on this?
If it is at least one interaction, it's better than none. Honestly, I feel like meat shouldn't give you blood and only specialized people can give blood bags (heroes possibly - though it would be really hard to get a hero skin if you can't bloodbag)IMO,people do not stick together because they can blood bag each other.Truthfully,I doubt that anyone feels that is true.If there was no blood bags in Dayz they would still stick together and lone wolves would still play alone.
Pros
Friends can heal each other giving them a feel of interaction
Cons
Lone wolves suffer from having to hunt to be on same playing field
Immersion greatly suffers from having animals spawning everywhere
Immersion suffers due to the spamming the steaks to get to full health
By changing this it evens the playing field while allowing the animals everywhere/constant steak spamming to end.Now all players will need to do some more scavenging to try to find the rare bloodbags and animals can become rare to keep that part of Dayz in tact and,dare I say it realistic.Could make it so its faster to blood bag a friend then yourself.
But I am not suggesting this for Dayz but rather 2017.Dayz is its own entity and a good majority love the mod just as it is.If Rocket were to try to add a harsh survival feel to the game the masses would revolt!!
