Added new Bliss GitHub

good luck

The conversion has been completed and is fully functional on 1.7.5 at this moment; however, servers will no longer be "Bliss" servers. This code is now a nice package manager that will repackage all of the official code coming from R4Zor49 and his team. It will be 100% compatible with the current databases, but will be branded as something else. The only thing left in the original Bliss code is the packaging system, a few lines of code that execute the add on scripts and the scripts themselves (care packages, custom inventory, messaging, kill messages).

After going through this tonight, I found that the code that was in Bliss was a lot of debug lines and old code and it was all over place. The differences between official 1.7.4.4 and Bliss 1.7.4.4 was amazing. What I have done with this is make it more compatible with the future versions of the code and easier to maintain in the long run. In addition, I have also made it easier to create plugins for it. I will be modding in multiple addons to take advantage of the new system, in the coming weeks.

I went though the code with visad and saw the exact same thing and i 100% back all that he says and has done. loading the code up line by line versus the public repo its basically the same thing. there is little to no changes needed to get a bliss server or public server or what ever server. If anyone thinks otherwise just load up eclipse with the repo and compare bliss to public. the core software functionality is the same, bliss adds the package layer that lets private owners customize their server that's all.

Done.

Meh was waiting for this to happen, can't really blame the guy either, he would have donated hours and hours of his life to this with little thanks in return, eventually all the whiney fucks who just complain get to you and everyone has a breaking point.

I do hope he comes back.

Yeah, unfortunately I know that feeling oh so well. I have years devoted to several projects with a return of about 80$ total over throughout the years. I do hope things work out in the long run, time will only tell.

@ thevisad. Thanks for picking this up so fast, honestly I was about to have a meltdown as we run 4 bliss servers plus Dayz Celle testing, if bliss had disappeared it would've more than likely caused me to throw in the towel on dayz developing!!!

The server files and %95 of Dayz Celle are finished, when do you want peeps to start sending things your way? nothing major but there is changes to the dayz_server.pbo and a big ass mission.pbo! Also what do you want sent to you for updates?

I've also got a time skip logic that (if a server date is set to static) will skip the pitch-black hours if you want to add that into bliss' additions. Hopefully audios snowstorm will be done at some stage (dynamic weather effects really mess with it) so I could shoot that through.

Obviously the previous work was stellar, if he can't handle doing it solo but wants to come back he should team up with you and p-schneider. it's always easy with a few more peeps!

Ok, I know about killmsgs, wrecks, invcust and carepkgs...... but wth is the rest? Oh..... and i am missing with-buildings, did u manage to get it rescued to?

If server owners could feed back in here after soak testing for a few days, that would be useful. We can then hand the reigns over to thevisad as there has been no sign of ayan yet.

I honor your efforts but am I the only one who thinks that this is somehow unthankful towards ayan?
He put days and weeks and months into this project, not only developing a far more superior and normalized DB scheme in comparison to the other private hives out there but also to add new features like the flexible build system and the packet manager.
On top of that everyone who was in the IRC channels witnessed that he did his best to support everyone with their problems.
To me personally it is no surprise that this can lead to a situation where he is simply burned out. Even though the way he quit was not the nicest to me this is understandable.

Ayan already mentioned that he'd like to pass the project on to a new dev to prevent x different repos being forked off the last version. Therefore I ask you to sit together with ayan to find a solution for this which can keep the brand "Bliss", provide proper credits and to have one single repository out there for all the former Bliss users to continue using.

I am working on adding in some items to make it easier to mod your servers with additional packages. That's what these are. Unfortunately, the build script is really buggy and it only compiles one addon. --with-buildings should work fine as well, I do not have any custom buildings on my server.

This is coming from a complete noob at this stuff. Will the installation process of the server itself be the same? Also, the database structure to continue using my exsisting DB?

I would be up for testing also. Have just got back into developing for any sort of game, in fact I haven't played any games seriously for years until I read about dayZ. I spent a lot if time getting a private hive running and then I discovered Bliss, great work from ayan and if he has had enough i, personally, don't blame him, we all have lives that need living. I am just glad he did what he did as a great community has evolved here..

Nothing will change really, other then a lot of cleanup of the original code to be more in line with DayZMod. Your existing database will work, the video above is my database, with my custom loadouts on the old 1.7.4.4 database install.

How is this unthankful? Have you not seen my multiple posts indicating that he has done a great job? I have not removed any credits, nor have I indicated that I would remove any credits. He designed the database structure. I only hope to continue the development of what he started. I have merely cleaned up old code, removed redundant features, debug scripts and converted the work to 1.7.5.

In addition, I have sent Ayan multiple emails, to which he never responded. I would gladly welcome a conversation with Ayan, if simply to further development or cast aside any doubts.

I guess the problem will be to get in contact with him, while it seems he burned out. But hell ya, try to get this thing sorted withim. This would be just nice.
