OpenDayZ Rockstar!
hey guys,

i was looking for a community shared banlist but couldnt found one. I found BanZ Union but sadly its offline. So i was wondering if people are still interessed in such a banlist.
The Idea would be the same:

Sever automatically generates an update twice daily if required. Updates will be more frequent as the number of union members grows.

Get Bans list from Downloads page.

BRIEF
We all know that once we ban a script kiddie off of our server, he will only go and start all over again on somebody elses. I propose a shared ban list - a smaller scale version of battleye bans.

THE PROPOSAL
I will code a website where reputable server owners request access and after being hand selected and voted in by a -group- decision, allowed access to the website. On this website, we can share our bans list of hackers only (not the annoying kids) that we have banned after proving to ourselves first hand.
I will program the website to compile our lists of bans into a big list which we can stick into our bans.txt. We could even stick BanZ in our server names to show our unity, just an idea though.

Doc

Sadly im not skilled enough to build this on my own, but i would help to get this done if some people would help me to get this done.

Cheers

EDIT: Nevermind should look a bit better ^^

Way back in the day before there was good software anticheat (early 2000's), we tried to deal with things this way and it worked surprisingly well. Aimbots were just gaining a foothold in the Unreal engine and we needed something to combat it. I'm still not entirely sure who started it but very quietly the larger server's admin began to share their cheat catches directly with each other. This quickly morphed into what was called the "Unreal Tournament Admin Newsletter" and it was a mark of real pride if you got your email address onto the list. It stayed underground for many years and still to this day most people from the community never knew it existed.

The real plus side of this was that we discussed the newest cheat methods openly. How to catch them, where they were getting them from, who had given in to the 'dark side'...it was all right there because it stayed right with the people who needed to know. AFAIK no one ever leaked any of the issues and the cheat community never knew about it.

I might be proposing the same thing hint hint. I know for a fact it's already going on, it just needs to have someone formalize it into a usable list along with some sort of discussion format where extra info can be swapped and bans debated as to whether they are fully valid.

Anyway...well there you go.

This would be significantly more effective than my post in the housekeeping section and would most likely gain more participants! Unfortunately I know nothing of coding so I'd be of no help except of course in sharing my ban file, which I already do! Good idea!
